Shenali Kalawana

Senior Project Officer

Shenali’s journey to Common Seas has been diverse, spanning a variety of sectors including geophysics, humanitarianism and international development. She investigated the public perception of marine plastic pollution in Sri Lanka for her Master’s thesis, through which she enhanced her passion for all things marine.

As a Research and Project Officer at Common Seas, Shenali sources evidence to inform our portfolio of programmes. From education to health, policy-making to plastic leakage reduction, she aims to bring data to life across a range of geographies, to support in ensuring that our work is as impactful as possible.

When not knee-deep in research, Shenali enjoys bouldering, board gaming and exploring new corners of the world.
