Director of Government and Business Partnerships
Thais is our Director of Government and Business Partnerships. She focuses on expanding partnerships with Governments from countries that are being massively impacted by the plastic pollution crisis - especially Small Island Developing States (SIDS) - and working together with them to define a plan to stop plastic pollution, alongside exploring partnerships in the private sector to accelerate the transition to a circular economy.
Thais is based in London but originally from Brazil. She holds a Master’s degree in Human Rights, and has focused her career on trying to make a positive impact. Highlights of her career include:
She joined Common Seas as she wants to tackle plastic pollution, as this is one of the three big environmental crises the world faces simultaneously. What gives her hope is the fact that there is momentum to implement systemic solutions, especially with a global plastics treaty being negotiated. She has a personal connection to the ocean as has always been obsessed with marine animals and was previously a long-distance open water swimmer.
