Greece Director
Valia is a marine scientist with a strong research background in Oceanography. She is now based in Athens, Greece but has spent many years in the UK studying and working. Her work emphasises a multidisciplinary approach to tackling environmental challenges, combining strong scientific skills and business development approaches. She’s a strong believer in win-win solutions; healthy business and a healthy planet come hand in hand.
Valia studied in the UK - firstly Marine Biology at the University of Newcastle, and Oceanography MSc at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton University and completed a PhD thesis working between the University of East Anglia and Plymouth Marine Laboratory. She has since participated in numerous multidisciplinary EU funded projects as well as research expeditions in the Atlantic, the North Sea, the Mediterranean and the Black Seas. While still working in research she decided to enrol for an MBA degree bridging the gap between the environment, policy and the business world.
Valia has joined Common Seas to assist in scaling the Clean Blue Alliance community in Greece and guide the team.
