Ocean Plastics Academy is now accessible to schools across Greece.

Exciting news!

Ocean Plastics Academy (OPA) is now accessible to schools across Greece, following official approval from the Greek Institute for Educational Policy, as part of their 21st-century Skills Platform. The OPA resources offer a balanced and holistic approach to learning about the issue of marine plastics whilst developing essential life skills such as critical thinking, innovation, initiative, and collaboration.

Creating “Clean seas for all” is a multi-generational endeavor, so equipping young people with the knowledge, experience and courage to address plastic pollution should be an essential part of the long-term solution. That’s why Common Seas created OPA, a movement to empower the next generation to create a plastic waste-free future.

Designed for the Greek curriculum, the new resources develop plastics literacy through a suite of progressive, experiential lessons for students aged 5-14 years.

To turn literacy into action, Common Seas collaborated with Byron School in Greece, among other schools, to pilot OPA the previous school year. The school developed a project to help the local community reduce the use of plastic and engaged students and teachers in an exciting learning journey.
