Filippos Lemos

Filippos and his brother Andonis co-chair several companies in a wide range of industries including shipping, commercial real estate and private equity. Their multigenerational connection to, and deep love for, the seas has led them to focus the Lemos family’s philanthropic work on the eradication of plastic from the Oceans.

This work is channelled through the strategic guidance and funding of Common Seas and its vision of creating a world in which plastic pollution is no longer a threat to Ocean or human health.

Through their charity, the Avra Foundation, they support several non-profit initiatives including the Sustainable Markets Initiative, whose mission is to build a coordinated global effort to create a sustainable future for nature, people and planet. Filippos holds an M.A. (Hons) degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford.
