Education

Our ocean needs a new generation of sea champions.

We believe children and young people should be equipped with the skills, knowledge and experience that allow them to thrive in a world affected by climate change, while helping to create a greener, fairer and more sustainable future.

Plastic Clever Schools Awards

In partnership with Kids Against Plastic, Common Seas runs the Plastic Clever Schools award, helping young people radically reduce plastic waste in their schools, communities, and future. We provide teachers and young people with everything they need to take part via our toolkits and online platform.

There are three steps to becoming a Plastic Clever School:

  1. Inspire - Learn all about plastic and engage the whole school community.
  2. Investigate – Complete a plastic audit and plan how to reduce it.
  3. Act - Create exciting campaigns to reduce plastic waste for good.

To achieve the Plastic Clever Award, schools share their achievements from each stage of their journey and join a nationwide community of teachers and young people tackling plastic waste, while reducing the nation’s carbon budget.
