Patrick Mahon

Head of Policy

Patrick is a committed environmentalist who has over 20 years experience of analysing, developing and implementing sustainability policies at UK, EU and international levels. His main areas of expertise are resources, waste and circular economy policy.

Patrick is helping Common Seas to work with policy makers in our target countries, using Plastics Drawdown and our other tools to support them in selecting and implementing the most effective policy levers to tackle plastic ocean pollution at the source.

Patrick has worked in the public, private and third sectors, with his most recent roles before Common Seas being at the circular economy charity WRAP, and a secondment to Defra where he helped develop the UK Government’s Resources & Waste Strategy in 2018. He has a Master’s degree in Environmental Decision Making and is a Chartered Resource and Waste Manager.
